Flight Attendant Mediation: The NMB Process In Action

NetJets and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) have entered mediation under the supervision of a professional mediator appointed by the National Mediation Board (NMB).  The schedule for mediation will be determined largely by the mediator, who has requested that an initial session be held in Dallas, TX, from March 31 through April 2, 2014.

For those of you not familiar with NMB mediation, here is a brief overview to help you understand the process:

Since we entered negotiations with the Teamsters in early 2011, NetJets has been focused on achieving a collective bargaining agreement that meets the needs of all stakeholders, including flight attendants.  We are all interested in building a strong and sustainable company and, to that end, we have been committed to bargaining in good faith and maintaining our position at the forefront of our industry by providing competitive and reasonable compensation, benefits and work rules.

We are hopeful that the mediation process will help the IBT focus on realistic expectations and rational proposals which will, in turn, help us reach a new CBA that is good for our flight attendants, good for our Owners, and good for our company.
